The mission of the Society of Aesthetic Medicine(Singapore) is to advance knowledge and skills in the field of aesthetic medicine. The Conference of Aesthetic Medicine epitomizes the mission and brings together like-minded doctors for this purpose.
The practice of aesthetic medicine has increased at an exponential rate in the last few years. A survey done by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons showed that cosmetic surgery has increased slightly over 100% in the last 7 years and the minimally invasive cosmetic procedures increased over 700% during the same period. When I first started my aesthetic practice 8 years ago, I struggled to find good courses that taught aesthetic medicine. Today there are many of such courses all around the world.
 The Conference of Aesthetic Medicine in Singapore aims to bring a panel of local and international doctors, experts in their own area, to share their experiences.
As doctors, we need to safeguard patient safety and practice standards in aesthetic medicine. This conference underscores the importance of training and education for all practitioners in the practice of aesthetic medicine.
Finally, I am confident that this conference will be a wonderful opportunity for doctors to advance their knowledge and hone in their skills in aesthetic medicine. I welcome you the Conference of Aesthetic Medicine 2009 in the dynamic city of Singapore!
